In Italian, ‘il Tavolo’ means ‘the table’, and celebrated Chef David Lovett is now serving some of the best Italian food in Byron Bay at our very own 100 Mile Table.
Every Thursday night, David is creating his own style of delicious, authentic Italian food in his ‘il Tavolo – Thursday dinners with David’ pop-ups.
At 100 Mile Table our core philosophy has always been about the sharing of food around a table. With David now firmly ensconced in the 100 Mile Table family, we thought it was time for him to bring his love and talent for Italian food to life at our café table.
Each week, David writes a fresh menu for his Thursday night dinners. He gathers inspiration from the seasons, local suppliers, his collection of battle worn cookbooks and a catalogue of his own legendary dishes.
On Tuesdays we make the pasta and focaccia dough and roll the gnocchi. On Wednesdays David hand rolls the pici or the ravioli or the spaghetti – usually creating a mammoth mess down the centre of the café table after hours - with flour flung to the farthest corners, Italian music blaring and a cold beer to keep him company. On Thursdays we finish off the details and roast the eggplant, bake the focaccia and cook the apples which become a warm cake with cream for dolce.
‘Il Tavolo - Thursday dinners with David’ happen every week at 100 Mile Table café from 5pm till 8pm. It’s $35 per person for two courses (entrée and main) and an extra $10 for dessert (gluten free and vegetarian options are always available). We think David’s is the best Italian food in Byron Bay and we want to share it with you around our table.
No reservations necessary. Simply pop in, grab a pew and place your order. It’s BYO which means you can grab a bottle of something delicious on your way. if you go via the bottle shop at Sun Bistro they’ll kindly swing you a 10% discount if you mention that you are headed to ‘il Tavolo’ at 100 Mile Table. We furnish them with our weekly menu, so they can suggest a perfectly matched drop for you.
