100 Mile Weekly News

We had one of our busiest weeks ever in the café last week – somewhere between the arctic freeze and the beautiful morning and afternoon sun, regulars and new friends alike dropped by Banksia Drive for Marvell St Coffee, a feel-good turmeric shot from our mates at Earth Man Organics, a bacon and egg butty or new kid on the block – the congee now with crunchy fried spiced pork mince and topped with a soft fried egg.

The week…

Lots to do, see, taste, organise, fluff and have fun with this week. More guests arriving on the weekend so food to prepare – the slow cooker has been getting a major work out this Winter and I’ll be fiddling around with a little Cromwell Farms whole Dexter topside this week, along with recipe testing with some Darling Downs Wagyu skirt, my favourite cut!

Linnaeus, Byron Bay

Two weeks or so ago, we were lucky enough to spend a weekend at the wonderful, the seriously original and the really quite unbelievable Linnaeus. Baskets and buns…happy Easter!

This week, I made a basket, lime cordial, Hot X buns, potato leek and bacon soup…and I kick started every morning with a swim in the ocean. Amongst all of it, I managed a glass of pinot gris at Burrawang Hotel with my sister in law, I played “cars” with my 2 year old god daughter in Robertson, lingered over dinner in the Southern Highlands with Roxy and Hugh – and somehow managed to squeeze in dinner with mates Sue…
